OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES

Members who choose to enter an SKP writing competition should review the official competition rules below before submitting an entry. By entering a competition, you agree to comply with these rules and the requirements of the competition you select.

SKP Membership Benefits

Become an active Stone Knight Productions member and enjoy free entry to SKP writing competitions throughout your membership. No additional competition entry fees are required for active members.

Non-members are welcome to enter SKP writing competitions by paying the applicable entry fee for each submission.

  1. By submitting an entry form, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to follow these rules.
  2. All entrants must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry.
  3. The competition is open to writers worldwide. It is void where prohibited by law.
  4. Employees of Stone Knight Productions, competition judges, and their immediate family or household members are not eligible to enter. Anyone directly involved in administering or judging the competition is also ineligible to enter.

Active Stone Knight Productions members receive unlimited screenplay submissions to all SKP writing competitions at no additional entry cost throughout their active membership period.

Non-members are welcome to participate in SKP writing competitions but must pay the applicable entry fee for each screenplay submitted.

All submissions must meet the competition’s eligibility requirements, submission guidelines, and deadlines.

You can enter an SKP writing competition as an active SKP member.

SKP Membership: Choose a Monthly, 3-Month, 6-Month, or Yearly membership option. Active members may enter SKP writing competitions and receive the membership benefits associated with their plan.

  • Each screenplay or story submitted to a competition is considered a separate entry and requires its own competition entry.
  • Members may submit multiple eligible entries before the competition deadline.

Each entry must include all of the following and must be received by the competition deadline:

• A completed entry form.
• Your screenplay as a PDF in standard screenplay format: 90–120 pages for Feature-Length or 10–50 pages for Shorts.
• A synopsis of no more than one page that includes your name and screenplay title. You may also include an optional video pitch of up to two minutes.

1. Your screenplay must be your original work and written in English. Adaptations are permitted only if you own or have written authorization to use the underlying source material.

2. At the time of entry, your screenplay must not have been published, produced, sold, or optioned and must not be under negotiation for any of these.

3. Co-written screenplays are permitted. All writers must be identified on the entry form and must have authorized the submission.

4. Entries must be submitted during the official competition entry period and received by the stated deadline. Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted.

5. Keep a copy of all materials you submit. Stone Knight Productions does not return submitted materials.

1. Entries are judged on the merit and quality of the writing, including story, characters, structure, and dialogue. The number of winners and results will depend on the eligible entries received and the judges’ evaluations.

2. Judges’ identities are kept confidential, and all judging decisions are final.

3. Winners will be notified by email and announced on the Stone Knight Productions website on the official winner announcement date.

4. To claim a prize, a winner must provide all required verification and tax information within 15 days of notification, including:

• A valid government-issued photo ID to confirm age and identity.
• Any tax documentation required by applicable law.
• A recent headshot (no hat or sunglasses) for the winner announcement.

5. A winner who does not provide the required information within 15 days of notification forfeits the prize, and Stone Knight Productions may select an alternate winner.

1. Cash prizes are awarded according to the prize amounts listed for the competition entered. Winning does not require you to sign a contract with Stone Knight Productions or sell, transfer, or give up ownership of your screenplay.

2. If a co-written screenplay wins, the prize will be divided equally among the writers listed on the entry form unless Stone Knight Productions receives written instructions from all listed writers stating otherwise.

3. Prize payments will be issued after Stone Knight Productions has verified the winner’s identity and received all required prize-claim and tax information.

4. Winners are responsible for any federal, state, local, or other taxes that may apply to their prize. Stone Knight Productions will provide or file tax documentation when required by applicable law.

5. Winners must complete the prize-claim requirements within 15 days of notification. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the prize and selection of an alternate winner.

You keep full ownership and copyright of your screenplay. Entering this competition does not transfer ownership of your screenplay or any production, adaptation, or other intellectual-property rights to Stone Knight Productions (SKP).

1. By entering, you confirm that the screenplay is your original work or that you have the legal right to submit it, and that your submission does not knowingly infringe the rights of another person or entity.

2. If you win, you give SKP permission to use your name, city and state, screenplay title, logline, synopsis, and limited excerpts from your screenplay solely to announce and promote the competition and its winners. SKP will not publish your complete screenplay without your separate written permission.

3. SKP will not produce, sell, option, license, adapt, or otherwise acquire rights to your screenplay unless you and SKP enter into a separate written agreement establishing those rights and any applicable compensation.

4. Submitted screenplays may be retained in SKP’s records for administrative, competition, and recordkeeping purposes. Retaining a copy does not give SKP ownership or production rights to the screenplay.

Written feedback will be provided for eligible competition entries as described for the competition entered. Feedback is intended to provide constructive comments on the submitted screenplay and does not guarantee placement, advancement, or selection as a winner. Feedback does not constitute an offer by SKP to purchase, option, produce, or represent the screenplay.

1. Each competition requires a minimum of 100 eligible entries to proceed. If the minimum number of entries is not received, or if SKP cancels the competition, all applicable competition entry fees will be refunded in full.

2. Entries that violate these Official Competition Rules may be disqualified and will not be eligible for a prize.

3. SKP reserves the right to update these rules when necessary. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Rule changes will not retroactively affect entries submitted before the change unless required by law.

SKP uses personal information collected from entrants for purposes related to administering the competition, processing entries and payments, communicating with entrants, verifying eligibility, awarding prizes, and meeting applicable legal and tax requirements. Personal information and any identity or tax documents collected by SKP will be handled securely and will not be sold. Information may be shared with service providers when necessary to administer the competition or when required by law. Please see our Privacy Policy for additional information.
